Animation — ROB CERRATO
As part of a new strategy focusing on New York City, where the brand got its start 13 years ago, the company recently sned a five-year deal for 2,200 square feet at 70 Front St., between Main and Washington streets, near the Brooklyn waterfront in Dumbo. The shop will replace electronics purveyor Mikey's Hook-Up.“We've been focusing on opening stores outside of New York, which we realized is a challenging strategy, and that it's much better to focus on what we know best—the New York City region,” said Lexy Funk, founder and chief executive of the retail chain.

Last summer, the trendy retailer moved its office headquarters from the Brooklyn Navy Yard to an 11,600-square-foot space at 20 Jay St. Following a four-day sample sale running later this week, the Dumbo outpost will officially open for business in mid-March.

This will be the retailer's sixth store in Brooklyn.A Boston shop, which was open for about a year, will be closing in March due to soft sales—another reason for the company's shift back to expansion in the B Apple. Funk added that the new store will be Dumbo-centric, featuring art installations that will cater to the artsy nehborhood.
